Generational change at CIPRA International
After seven eventful years at the helm of CIPRA International, Kaspar Schuler is taking well-deserved retirement. His former deputy, Jakob Dietachmair, takes over as Executive Director, while Magdalena Holzer becomes the new Deputy Director. There are also changes at CIPRA Austria: Paul Kuncio is moving to CIPRA International as Policy Officer.
Kaspar Schuler joined CIPRA International in 2018. Under his leadership, numerous milestones have been achieved: the transformation of the Netzwerkstatt Alpen in Schaan/LI into a tastefully renovated office building, as well as a comprehensive declaration on sustainable water management under the Alpine Convention.
Continuity and experience in the succession process
Jakob Dietachmair has been with CIPRA for twelve years, serving as Deputy Director since 2021. In addition to his long-standing experience in areas such as sustainable tourism and mobility, the Austrian national has in recent years been actively engaged in political advocacy. His expertise and commitment to trans-Alpine cooperation make him the ideal candidate to lead the organisation. “It is important for me, as a voice for nature, to foster the health and safety of people in the Alps. In this way we can preserve our unique living environment, in the heart of Europe, for current and future generations.”
Magdalena Holzer has been with CIPRA since 2014. As a trained interpreter, she brings strong linguistic and intercultural skills as well as extensive project management experience to the Alpine-wide network.
Paul Kuncio, previously Managing Director of CIPRA Austria, is moving to CIPRA International. There, the lawyer will contribute to Alpine policy work as Policy Officer.
